The annual update
Well, let me chide myself once again. In spite of best intentions and promises to do better, it has been more than a year since I updated this site. So, what’s happened?
- Some Days Run Long was shortlisted for the Alistair MacLeod Prize for Short Fiction at the 2019 Atlantic Book Awards. I traveled to St. John’s, Newfoundland, for the ceremony and had a wonderful time. The other two authors nominated were Lisa Moore and Johanna Skibsrud, one of whom won Canada Reads in 2018 and the other the Giller Prize. Pretty good company. Lisa went home with the trophy and I came back with some lovely memories
- In June I was invited to be Storyteller-in-Residence for Cape Breton Regional Library. It is a two year term beginning July 1. I will be scooting around Victoria County and Cape Breton County telling stories, singing songs and hearing tales from other Capers. More on that later.
There. That’s a bit more up-to-date than it has been for quite a while. No more resolutions, though; I’ll be back when I get to it.
